NOTIFICATION: The origin of the Institute dates back to 1973 when the Royal Family of Travancore gifted a multistoried building for the people and Government of Kerala. Sri. P. N. Haskar, the then Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, inaugurated the Sree Chitra Tirunal Medical Center in 1976, when patient services including inpatient treatment got underway. At the Satelmond Palace, Poojapura, nearly 11 km away from this Hospital Wing, the Biomedical Technology Wing followed soon, again a gift by the Royal Family.
The concept of amalgamating medical sciences and technology within a single institutional framework was regarded as sufficiently important by the Government of India to declare the center as an Institute of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology by an Act of Parliament in 1980, and named it as Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, the then Honorable Finance Minister of Government of India, laid the foundation stone of the third dimension of the Institute, Achutha Menon Center for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS) on June 15, 1992. Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi, the then Honorable Minister of Science and Technology and Human Resource Development, Government of India, dedicated the AMCHSS to the nation on January 30, 2000.
The Sree ChitraTirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram is an Institute of National Importance established by an Act of the Indian Parliament. It is an autonomous Institute under the administrative control of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

POST WISE DETAILS: 11 posts of Professor and Assistant Professor-
1- Professor (NEUROSURGERY): 01 post.
2- Assistant Professor in Paediatric Neurology, Anaesthesiology, Imaging sciences & Interventional Radiology, Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery and Pathology: 10 posts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: As per details given below-
1- Professor: Twelve years of teaching and/or research experience after obtaining M. Ch in the speciality or its equivalent qualification in the case of 2 years course and eleven years after M. Ch in the case of 3 years course and seventeen years after MBBS with M. Ch in the case of direct course.
Pay scale: Rs. 37400-67000/-+AGP Rs.10500/- min pay Rs.51600/-.
Required Age: 50 years as on 01-01-2015.
2- Assistant Professor: One year teaching and/or research experience after DM in the speciality or its equivalent qualification in the case of 2 years course and just after DM in the case of 3 years course and 6 years after MBBS with DM in the case of direct 5 years course. Candidates with qualification/ experience in Pediatric Neurology, Anesthesiology, Imaging sciences & Interventional Radiology, Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery and Pathology.
Pay Scale: Rs.15600-39100/-+ AGP Rs.8000/- min pay Rs.30000/-.
Required Age: 40 years as on 01-01-2015.
REQUIRED AGE: The required age of a candidate should be in between of 21 – 40/50 years as on 01-01-2015.
AGE RELAXATION: Relaxation in age is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. Rules.
REQUIRED FEE: An amount of Rs. 750/- by General& OBC candidates and Rs.150/- by SC/ST candidates to be deposited in SBI through online mode. All bank charges to be borne by the applicant.
Recruitment of 1000 vacant posts of Assistants in Class-III Cadre in NIC.
POST RESERVATION: Reservation is applicable for Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Persons with Disabilities (PWD), Ex-Servicemen (ESM) candidates.
