ABOUT:     The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. The President of India serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff, usually a four-star officer in the rank of Admiral, commands the Navy.

NO OF POSTS:      Various vacant posts of Permanent Commissioned Officer to join the prestigious Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala under the 10+2 (B. Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme in Indian Navy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:      A passed of Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or its equivalent from any University/Board with at least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII) from any recognized Board.

PAY SCALE:     The Pay Scale criteria are as follows -

1. SUB LIEUTENANT:     PB-3/Rs.15600-39100/-+GP 5400/-+MSP 6000/-.

2. LIEUTENANT:      PB-3/ Rs.15600-39100/-+GP 6100/-+MSP 6000/-.

3. LIEUTENANT CDR:       PB-3/ Rs.15600-39100/-+GP 6600/-+MSP 6000/-.

4. COMMANDER:        PB-4/ Rs.37400-67000/-+GP 8000/-+MSP 6000/-.

Allowances as applicable are being paid to all officers.

The promotion from Sub Lieutenant to Commander is on time scale basis and thereafter on selection basis subject to fulfillment of requisite service condition.

REQUIRED AGE:    17 - 19½ years {i.e. born between 02 Jan 1997 & 01 Jul 1999 (both dates inclusive)}.

AGE RELAXATION:      As per Govt rules age relaxation is applicable for said post to all reserved category candidates.

MEDICAL STANDARDS:      As per details given below-

A - Medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.

B - Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms.

C - The candidate must be in good physical and mental health, free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions as per Navy Order (Special) 01/2008.

D - Initial Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only "Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination". Final Medical Examination of all selected candidate will be done at INS Chilka. Candidates who are found medically fit at final medical examination will be enrolled for training. No "Appeal" is permitted for review after the final enrollment medical examination at INS Chilka.

F- Tattoos -   Permanent body tattoos on any part of the body are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal communities/from tribal areas as declared by the Government of India. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face or forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to wrist end on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. REQUIRED APPLICATION FEE:     No application fee is required.

POST RESERVATION:      All reserved category candidates ie. SC/ST & OBC (as applicable) are being selected for said post/s as per existing Govt policy/rules.

SELECTION PROCESS:      Applicants who are screened for applicability/eligibility are being selected as per organization policy/rules depending on the basis of their performance in SSB interview, qualifying physical fitness test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examination.

1 - Candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) based on their performance in Senior Secondary Education (10+2 equivalent). Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage. No communication will be entertained on this account. SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam during Feb - May 16.

2 - Shortlisted candiates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their E-mail or thorugh SMS (provided by candidate in their application form).

3 - SSB interview will be conducted in 2 Stages. Stage I test consists of intelligence test, Picture Perception and Discussion test. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day. Stage II tests comprises Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview which will last for 04 days.Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Medical Examination (approx duration 03-05 days).

4 - Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be selected for training in the order of an All India Merit List depending on the number of vacancies.

5 - Change of SSB venue for interview is not permissible.

6 - Any correspondence regarding change of SSB date is to be addressed to the Callup Officer of the concerned SSB on receipt of call up letter. Award of fresh dates for SSB would be subject to availability.

7 - No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests. (h) Return 3rd AC rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for this entry.

TRAINING:       The training is scheduled to be commenced in Jun 2016. Selected candidates will be inducted as Cadets for 4 year B. Tech course in Electronics & Communication or Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, and Kerala. During the course, Cadets will be allotted Executive or Engineering including Naval Architect specialisation or Electrical Branch. On completion of the course, B. Tech Degree will be awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Note:   The entire cost of training, including books and reading material, will be borne by the Indian Navy. The cadets will also be provided with free clothing and messing.
