NOTIFICATION:        Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has notified a recruitment to fill up various vacant posts available in many Departments and Ministries in Government of India through Combined Graduate Level (Tier-I, II, III & IV) Examination-2017 (CGL Exam 2017) which will be held on 01-08-2017 to 20-08-2017 for selecting/ screening the candidates for the Tier II Examination. For that SSC has asked online applications from eligible and interested willing candidates. ESSENTIAL/EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:    As per details given below (as on 1st August, 2017) –

1. Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer:        A passed of Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute.  Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or cost & Management Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters I Commerce or Masters in Business Studies or Masters in Business Administration (Finance) or Masters in Business Economics.

NOTE:       During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the “Subordinate Audit Service Examination” in respective branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.

2. Junior Statistical Officer:       A passed of Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at Degree level.

3. All other Posts:        A passed of Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

Note:       The candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply, however they must possess Essential qualification on or before 1st August 2017.

AGE LIMIT:    Candidates required age should be in between of 18/20 years - 27/30/32 years as on 01-08-2017 (depends on post) for SSC CGL 2017 Notification Out.

1. Assistant Section Officer/ Sub-Inspector (Group “B”), Inspector of Income Tax Inspector of Central Excise, Inspector (Preventive officer), Upper Division Clerk (UDC), Inspector (CBN) Compiler, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Inspector (Examiner), Junior Accountant, Sub-Inspector (CBN) Inspector of Posts, Divisional Accountants, Auditors, Tax Assistants Auditor:       20 to 30 years.

2. Intelligence Bureau Assistant/ Sub-Inspector (Group “C”):     18 to 27 years.

3. Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Enforcement Officer:    Not exceeding 30 years.

4. Statistical Investigator Grade II:   Up to 32 years.

AGE RELAXATION:    Relaxation in age is applicable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. Rules.

REQUIRED FEE:       An amount of Rs.100/- as an application fee by General and OBC category candidates to be paid through State Bank of India only either in the form of challan, generated on line, or through SBI Net Banking. Payment can also be made through any Credit or Debit Card.

Women candidates / Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen who are eligible for reservation need not to pay application fee as per extant Government orders.

Note:     As per DOPT’s Order No.11012/7/2008-Estt dated 09.04.2009 posts are classified under the Central Civil Services (CCA) Rules, 1965 as under:

1. GROUP-B Posts -     A Central Civil post carrying the following grade pay:  Rs.5400/-, Rs.4800/-, Rs.4600/- and Rs.4200/- in the scale of pay of Rs. 9300 – 34800/- in Pay Band-2.

2. GROUP-C Posts:      A Central Civil post carrying the following grade pays:    Rs.2800, Rs.2400, Rs.2000, Rs.1900 and Rs.1800 in the scale of pay of Rs.5200-20200/- in the Pay Band-1.

NOTE:    Vacancies will be intimated in due course.

POST RESERVATION:   Reservation is applicable for Scheduled Castes(SC), Scheduled Tribes(ST), Other Backward Classes(OBC) Ex-Serviceman(EXS) and Physically Handicapped(PH) candidates for all categories of posts/services, wherever applicable and admissible, would be as determined and communicated by the Indenting Ministries/Departments/ Offices/ Cadres, as per extant Government Orders. 
 

SELECTION PROCEDURE:   Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in written test, (Tier 1 and Tier 2 followed by Tier-III & IV Exam) Skill test, PET, Medical test, Typing test. After the Written Examination and the Data Entry Skill Test/Computer Proficiency Test/Document verification wherever applicable. 

The examination will be conducted in four tiers, as given below –

1. Tier -I -- Computer Based Examination.

2. Tier -II -- Computer Based Examination.

3. Tier -III -- Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper).

4. Tier-IV -- Computer Proficiency Test/ Skill Test (wherever applicable)/Document Verification.

Tier I exam is common for all posts and it comprises of four papers - General intelligence, General awareness, Quantitative aptitude & English comprehension.

While the duration of test is 1 hour, each section has equal weightage of 50 marks for a total of 200 marks.

Tier II scheduled in August will have 4 papers – Quantitative abilities, English language Statistics (for Statistical Investigator) & General Studies (for Assistant Audit Officer).
Based on the results, candidates would be shortlisted for Tier III and Tier IV according to their post.

No more Interviews:     There will be no interviews for any of these posts. So SSC will directly call individuals for Document Verification, if you get selected in Tier IV exam.

Warning:      There will be negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer in Tier-I. In respect of Tier-II, the negative marking system of 0.25 for each wrong answer in paper II (English Language & Comprehension) of Tier-II and 0.50 for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper III and Paper IV of Tier II.

Closing Date:   16-06-2017.

Date of Computer Based Examination (Tier-I):    01-08-2017-20-08-2017.

Date of Tier-II:      10-11-2017 & 11-11-2017.

Date of Tier-III (Descriptive):     21-01-2018.

Date of Tier-IV (Skill test):      Feb, 2018.

Pattern Changed:       Big news is that SSC had made a few changes and introduces some new posts in CGL 2017 Exam -

1- Time Duration:     SSC had revised the time limit for Tier-1 Exam. In 2017 CGL Exam, you will have only 60 minutes Tier-1 Exam. Earlier Tier-1 has duration of 75 minutes, which is now reduced to only 1 Hours. There will be 100 Questions (200 Marks).

2- Reckoning Date:    SSC had notified this thing earlier, that Cut-off Date or Crucial Date for Determining the Age Limit is 1st August, 2017. Moreover, Final year students can apply, provided they have completed their Degree before 1st August, 2017.

3- Relaxation in Upper Age:      Good news is that, now aspirants over the age of 27 years, can apply for SSC CGL Exam, SSC had revised the upper age limit for some on posts and increased it by 3 years. The posts for which SSC had increased the upper age limit is CSS, Railway, IB, MEA, AFHQ etc

4- New Posts Introduced:     In 2017, SSC had introduced some news posts Like Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistants in Serious Fraud Investigation Officer and Other Departments

5- Computer Proficiency Test (CPT):      For some of posts, SSC had made CPT as an essential Qualification as -

Assistant Section Officer (CSS).

Assistant Section Officer (MEA).

Assistant (GSI) in Ministry of Mines.

Assistants in Serious Fraud Investigation Agency.

6- Post Preference:        If you think, that filling the SSC CGL post preferences is a headache for you, then SSC eases the process as the Post Preference only filled at the time of Document Verification will be considered as valid. So no need to worry, much at the time of filling the CGL Online form 2017.

7- Syllabus:     If you have appeared in the previous CGL 2016 Exam and did not qualify, then don't start you preparation from where you left, as there are No Changes in the SSC CGL Syllabus in 2017.

Physical Fitness Requirements:         Apart from the above, there are certain requisite Physical Standards for Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/Preventive Officer), Sub-Inspector in CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) and Sub-Inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency).
