NOTIFICATION: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold an Examination Nation wise for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 140th Course and for the 102nd Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from 2nd July, 2018 to fill up 390 Group A Technical & Executive vacant posts of Commissioned Officers in various disciplines from eligible and interested willing unmarried candidates. The candidates joining Indian Naval Academy would undergo for 4 years B. Tech Course and would be given an opportunity to join Executive and Technical Branches of the Navy subject to availability of vacancies. NO OF VACANCIES: 390 Group “A” Technical & Executive vacant posts of Commissioned Officers in various disciplines through UPSC in Defence.
A - National Defence Academy (NDA): 335 vacancies –
1. Indian Army: 208 posts.
2. Indian Navy: 55 posts.
3. Indian Air Force: 72 posts.
B - Naval Academy (NA I) (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme): 55 posts.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: As per details given below -
1. Army Wing of National Defence Academy: A passed of 12th Class of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by an Education Board or a University.
2. Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy: A passed of 12th Class of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
NOTE: Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.
PHYSICAL STANDARDS: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2017 as per guidelines given in Appendix-IV.
AGE LIMIT: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02nd January, 1999 and not later than 1st January, 2002 are eligible.
AGE RELAXATION: As per Govt. rules age relaxation is applicable for said post to all reserved category candidates.
PAY SCALE: Rs.15600 - 37800/- + GPRs. 5400/- for UPSC NDA & NA II Recruitment 2017 for 390 Posts Apply Online.
REQUIRED APPLICATION FEE: For said vacancy a non- refundable application fee is to be paid by the candidates as per rules. An amount of Rs. 100/- by General and OBC candidates to be paid either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card up to 20/30-06-2017.

SELECTION PROCESS: Applicants who are screened for applicability /eligibility are being selected as per organization policy/rules depending on the basis of their performance in Written Examination, Psychological Aptitude Test, and Intelligence Test /SSB Test / Interview. The selection process of NDA 2017 will be completed in 3 stages -
1. Written examination.
2. Personal Interview.
3. Medical review by Command Hospital.
The qualified candidates of written examination will be called to attend personal interview at SSB centres allotted by SSC and then successful candidates will be eligible for Medical review. Personal interview will be scheduled in 5 days. PAPER 1 MATHEMATICS (Code No.1) (Max Marks-300) -

5. Differential Calculus.
6. Integral Calculus and Differential Equations.
7. Vector Algebra.
8. Statistics and Probability.
PAPER 2 GENERAL ABILITY TEST (Code No.2) (Max Marks 600) -
• PART A – English.
• PART B – General Knowledge.
• SECTION A – Physics.
• SECTION B – Chemistry.
• SECTION C – General Sciences.
• SECTION D – History, Freedom Movements.
• SECTION E – Geography.
• SECTION F – Current Affairs.
Questions on Section A B C D E and F will carry 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20%, and 10% weightage.
There will be negative marking for incorrect response given by candidates.
The SSB interview consists of 2 stages i.e. stage I and stage II. The stage (I) will consist of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT). The stage (II) will comprise of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests will be organized over 4 or 5 days. Entire process will carry 900 marks.
NDA Exams focuses mainly on English, General Knowledge and Mathematics.
Question paper includes equations and questions related to subjects listed above.
