The AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is a national-level examination conducted twice a year to select officers for the Indian Air Force. Educational Qualification

The eligibility criteria vary based on the branch applied for:

 

1.       Flying Branch:

o    A minimum of 50% marks each in Mathematics and Physics at the 10+2 level.

o    A graduate degree (minimum 3 years) in any discipline with 60% marks or equivalent.

o    OR BE/BTech with 60% marks.


2.     Ground Duty (Technical):

o    Engineering degree (minimum 4 years) in relevant disciplines as per the notification.

o    10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.


3.     Ground Duty (Non-Technical):

o    Graduate or postgraduate degrees in relevant disciplines (e.g., Administration, Logistics, Education, Accounts) with at least 60% marks.


 

 

Experience

Freshers meeting the above educational qualifications are eligible. Prior experience in similar roles will be advantageous but is not mandatory.


 

 

Age Limit

1.       Flying Branch:

o    Minimum: 20 years

o    Maximum: 24 years (as of January 1, 2025)

o    Upper age relaxation of up to 26 years for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License (CPL).


2.     Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical):

o    Minimum: 20 years

o    Maximum: 26 years (as of January 1, 2025)


 

 

Pay Scale

The pay structure for officers in the Indian Air Force is highly competitive:


  • Flying Officer Rank: ₹56,100 – ₹1,77,500/- (Level 10)
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/-

Selection Procedure
